"Office Supplies are Missing"
A large oil refinery in Southern California was having as
problem with office supplies being removed from the mailroom in the evening
or weekends. The only people who should be there in the evening or weekends
were the contract-cleaning people.
The complete system was placed in a cardboard box with the
pinhole camera looking through a small hole in a label. The system would
last a couple of weeks with the time parameters set while running on a
battery. Some bubble pack was wrapped around the system and the box was
sealed. The box was placed on a shelf in the mailroom covering the storage
area and most of the room. The wireless PIR motion sensor was placed above
the door covering the whole room. The system was installed in less than 3
minutes.
The next week when the video was reviewed no one was caught
removing office supplies, but one of the cleaning people had brought his 7
year old child with him to work totally disregarding company policy. (At
a later date the office supply thief was caught). The success of this
investigation was again the ease and speed of set up and review - only 6
events over 8 days.
