The LynxGuide System Server is a turn-key server with the LynxGuide software pre-loaded on a Dell server or a Hewlett Packard server, configured and tested for quick installation on your LAN. Pcs on the LAN with LynxKey or LynxKeyPro client software MSI installed can send alerts to the server. Pcs on the LAN with LynxMessenger client software MSI installed can receive alerts from the server. The LynxGuide system is typically operated by the security department, but the IT’s role is critical for server setup and MSI deployment.

Network Assign the LynxGuide Server a Static IP address, add to you DNS and add to your domain if required. The LynxGuide system server uses minimal network bandwidth when there is no activity, but will utilize more bandwidth to launch large scale notifications based on the content of the messages.

Ports  LynxGuide uses ports 80 for alarms and server user interface. The LynxMessenger client communication port is configurable, the default is port 10116.

E-mail  LynxGuide has a built in e-mail server or can be configured to relay the SMTP traffic through your existing mail server.

Operating System  The Standard series LynxGuide server uses Windows Server 2008 R2.

Active Directory  Data can be imported from your Active Directory to the LynxGuide Server.

Virus Scanning  Virus scanners do not interfere with the operation of the LynxGuide Server.

Database  The LynxGuide Server uses Microsoft SQL Server Express.  You can install Microsoft SQL Server Standard Edition on your server. If you require that the application use your pre-existing SQL server, then the LynxGuide application will need an ODBC link to a database with DBO privileges.

Client Software Installation  All Lynx clients are MSIs and can be manually installed or pushed with your software distribution tool to PCs on your LAN.

LynxNet devices  LynxNet devices require a 100 Mb LAN connection.

Supervision  All Lynx Clients and Lynx Device check in with the LynxGuide Server. Supervision packet size is less the 1K Bytes.
